The schedule lists an alpha phase for Node.js 27 starting on 2026-10-28, ahead of its planned April 2027 release.

Which version to use

  • Production: an LTS line in Active or Maintenance status. In October 2026 that is 24 or, after 2026-10-28, 26.
  • New projects: the newest LTS (26 after 2026-10-28), so the project gets the longest support window.
  • Never in production: odd-numbered Current releases (25, 27): they are supported for only a few months.

Check what you run

bash
node --version
node -p "process.release.lts ?? 'not an LTS release'"

process.release.lts is the LTS codename of the running binary, or undefined for a Current release.
